To think there was a monster like this...Curse you, Ou Ki, for hiding this!!

Chou Sou, about Tou.

Tou is a Great General of the Qin Military and the Second Great of the Six Great Generals's second generation. In the past, he was the late Great General Ou Ki's right hand man and a talented General himself as he served as his lord's aide for decades.

After his lord's death, Tou became the leader of the remnants of the Ou Ki Army as they reformed into the Tou Army and became one of the strongest military commanders of Qin.

Appearance[]

"...Tou, who doesn't look like a Chinese person, Hara said he got carried away when he started designing his face. He even told his staff that Tou looked like Freddie Mercury."

—Yasuhisa Hara"

Tou is a strong and well-built man. He has long, brown, flowing hair and a thin mustache, which has swirl patterns at each side. His eyes are always wide open and his face always in blank vendetta smile state. On the battlefield he wears a light-blue decorated armor and a green cape.

Personality[]

Tou has a very formal way of speaking and carries himself with quiet dignity. On the battlefield, however, he displays a very serious side as he cuts through his opponents. He also holds an absolute sense of confident in his own abilities and the skill sets of others that he has acknowledged.

Like his late lord, Tou never misses the chance to sneak in a joke from time to time. Usually making sure to poke fun at others, it typically being Roku O Mi. Even in the direst situations, he maintained a calm demeanor, carefully analyzing the battlefield and acting accordingly. He also has his own a patterned of laughter where he laughs / chuckled as "Kokokoko".

Relationships[]

Ou Ki[]

Tou was extremely loyal to his master to the end. He remained in his service in the shadows even though his own abilities were also exceptional. Tou was the first one to defend his dying lord from Hou Ken and continued to engage the Bu Shin, allowing Shin to carry Ou Ki to safety. Though he maintained his calm upon hearing the dying words of Ou Ki, Tou gripped his hands so tightly that his fingers drew bloods, indicating a great deal of affection and loyalty to his dying master.

Roku O Mi[]

Tou generally likes to make fun of Roku O Mi by talking as if he was already dead.

History[]

Child Tou

Tou at the young age of six.

Tou, at six years old, was taught the art of Rasen a very unique and powerful form of swordsmanship by his father or master.[1]

Aside from his youth, not much else is currently known about Tou's adolescence except that at some point he joined the Qin Military and was introduced to Ou Ki, a member of the noble, prestigious Ou Family's branch family and great military commander of the Qin Military. Tou would swear his loyalty to his lord, Ou Ki and serve as his aide for the longest time amongst the Ou Ki Army's officers and commanders during the height of the War God's Era.

It's unknown when but Tou fought alongside his lord against Rin Shou Jo and his vassals, Gyou’un and Chou Ga Ryuu in the Battle of Ba Hills with Roku O Mi, Ryuu Koku, Rin Bou, and Dou Kin. Rin Shou Jo had used a river as a natural cover which allowed both sides to momentarily stop fighting and exchange words, the Phantasmal General claimed that Ou Ki and his Army possessed a similar innocence as their king and that's what made them strong. Seeing an opportunity, Rin Bou grabs a spear from one of his soldiers and throws it at the Great Heaven, but it is deflected by Chou Ga Ryuu and Gyou'un responds by doing the same, but Tou deflects the spear with his sword.

Roku O Mi gets ready to charge at them, but he is scolded by their lord instead. The two Great Generals continue their talk and Rin Shou Jo then predicted that China will eventually be united and left Ou Ki wishing him good luck.[2]

Story[]

Sei Kyou's Rebellion Arc[]

Tou was introduced as a silent aide of Great General Ou Ki that agreed with whatever his lord said and ordered.

During Ei Sei's attempt to reclaim his throne, Tou was present along with other members of the Ou Ki Army and simply observed the insuring battle. When the Monstrous Bird saw that the outcome was favoring the rightful king, he sent Tou on a secret mission to prevent Ketsu Shi and his officials from escaping. Tou was stationed outside the main gate of the throne room and when the officials tried to run away from Shin, Bajio, and Shunmen he cut and beheaded anyone that approach the door. This resulted in Ketsu Shi running towards the other exit only to be stopped and slain.

Keiyou Campaign Arc[]

During the Battle at Dakan Plains, Tou was alongside his master all the time.

Training Arc[]

Tou was seen guarding Ou Ki's City while his lord, Ou Ki was out with practice army drills. When Ou Ki returned Tou greet him. Tou was then seen bathing with Ou Ki, Shin, En and other Ou Ki Army Commanders.

Tou was next seen taking Ou Ki, Shin, and En to a Stateless Area for Shin’s training.

Battle of Bayou Arc[]

When the announcement of the Zhao invasion was made, Tou followed his lord who was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the defensive operations. When Ou Ki and Hou Ken finally met, Tou was sent with his cavalry unit to attack the Zhao forces and easily outmaneuvered through the enemy fire before breaking through the first line. After getting a good distance in, he ordered the extermination of the Zhao archers before pressing forward with the attack. His unit continued to advance and closed in on their target, the Zhao strategist Chou Sou, instead of returning to the Qin army.

Breaking past the third Zhao formation, Tou and his cavalry unit got passed Chou Sou's bodyguards and managed to kill the Zhao strategist. Then, he swiftly came back to his lord's aide, blocking Hou Ken's attempt on a finishing blow, and immediately started giving out orders for his unit to attack the enemy base camp as a distraction while the Hi Shin Unit would escape with the heavily wounded Ou Ki.

Tou noted that a "chance" should appear on the left side soon and led the attack on the Zhao base camp, killing many troops with great ferocity, before returning to Ou Ki's side. There, he was given command of Ou Ki's army as per his lord's dying wish with Ryuu Koku standing as witness to this.

Alliance Arc[]

Upon the news of the Zhao prime minister Ri Boku's arrival in Kanyou, the remnant officers of the Ou Ki Army were all gathered in the throne room. As the enemy general entered the room and started the negotiations, Tou simply but silently enraged, observed the man responsible for his lord's death offering now an alliance between the two states.

Coalition Invasion Arc[]

Months later, Tou was seen near Fort Nanko as the Chu army invaded Qin by destroying the fort. Riding with Dou Kin and Rin Bou, he intercepted the first Chu wave with 5,000 soldiers from Ou Ki's army and informed the two men as to the urgency of the situation.

As the Battle of Kankoku Pass against the Coalition Army begun, Tou was stationed on the right side of Kankoku Pass, where his army was matched against that of Chu's. Tou had the upper hand during the first days and even managed to slay the mighty Chu general Rin Bu Kun.

However, as general Ka Rin's second army took the stage, Tou found himself attacked from all directions.

Seeing that, he organized his army in a square formation and gave commanders Mou Ten and Ou Hon freedom to take their units and intercept the enemy waves from the sides. As Mou Ten's unit reached its limit and the soldiers needed rest, Tou took his men and went out to replace them. At that point, Ka Rin granted commander Kou Yoku 5000 men and sent him to take Tou's head. The two armies clashed, and their two commanders engaged in a duel. Tou was surprised by the young commander's strength who managed to fight with him in an equal footing.

After the news on Ri Boku's plan, Tou along with the rest of the Qin army continued to engage their enemy in small skirmishes every day, stalling each other, waiting for the outcome of the Battle of Sai.

He was later seen at the ceremony, laughing when Shin took the promotion. While near him Roku O Mi was dismayed.

Fire Dragons of Wei Arc[]

As Qin struggled to expand its borders, Tou was appointed a commander in chief of the Choyou Campaign to conquer the Choyou region of Wei. Following Ou Hon's strategy, Tou led his army in a frontal attack, acting as a decoy to cover the coordinated, simultaneous attack of the rest of the army.

However, he was taken by surprise, as he was faced against one of the Seven Fire Dragons, Rei Ou, who were supposed to be dead. Rei Ou's subordinate, general Ran Bi Haku, penetrated Tou's left flank and even managed to reach Tou's position quite fast. Seeing that, the Qin general ordered a retreat, knowing that facing such an opponent would be playing into Rei Ou's scheme. Tou then informs his men that Ran Bi Haku is a formidable warrior that gave trouble to both Kyou and Ou Ki in the past. Tou now concludes that the mission became a lot harder for Ou Hon, Shin and Roku O Mi due to the presence of the Fire Dragons. The next evening, he visits Roku O Mi and informs him that the kids are still struggling on their end and was curious why he has not made a move yet.

He then tells him how their late lord had every intention of conquering China with the Qin king Ei Sei, however, given the current state of Qin, he wanted to test the younger military commanders with talent. Since the whole of China is paying attention to the results of this campaign, Tou does not see this battle as him against the Great General from Wei but the young talented commanders who will lead Qin in the future against Go Hou Mei. Tou wants to see in them the potential to rival the same level of skill from the Six Great Generals of Qin. He allowed himself to be bait for the plan to be accomplished, and so smoothly that even Rei Ou never noticed anything.

Later, he was promoted to Great General for his actions.

Western Zhao Invasion Arc[]

Tou was initially seen, his army facing Go Hou Mei and his army outside Sanyou/Tougun. He led his armies to reclaim Retsubi from Zhao.

War of the Three States Arc[]

Tou, Roku O Mi and their respective armies arrive to reinforce the Mou Bu Army with 20k soldiers during the Battle at Gecchi Plains by engaging Chu's right flank under General Gen'U. After the Wei Army led by Go Hou Mei enters the battle as well, the Tou Army advance on the Chu's HQ was stopped by Kou Yoku who forced Tou into a duel. This was interrupted by Ran Bi Haku as the Berserker attacked the Chu General which allowed Tou to continue advancing on the Chu's HQ. Haku Rei tried to stop him before he arrived at the HQ, but his arrows were useless against Tou as he dodged the attack without effort. He successful destroyed the Chu HQ and captured their strategist Ju Ko'Ou as the Strategist tried to escape. After the Wei capture and secured Juuko, the Qin and Wei Commanders meet.

In a conversation with Go Hou Mei, Hou Mei discusses the advantages of their alliance as well as confirming that they will be enemies after the three years of peace. Go Hou Mei informed him during their talk about the current state of the Zhao Military with Ri Boku and Shi Ba Shou being the enemies they need to defeat to conquer Zhao.

Nature Of Humanity Arc[]

As an eminent member of the Six Great Generals of Qin, Tou is assigned as an escort to the diplomatic delegation to Shintei, the capital of Han with the task of protecting it along with Roku O Mi and Ri Shin. But the Great General's own goal was to collect as much information of Han's defensive capabilities. After entering the capital, the delegation meets Han's princess Nei as she tries to stop them but Han 1st General Raku'A Kan comes to welcome them while escorting the princess away.

During the negotiations he understood that they are only able to take Kan Pishi with them if Shin has an acceptable answer to the legalist's question. Tou tells Shin to answer honestly as he guessed Shin would have a suitable answer.

Hango Campaign Arc[]

Three Pillars Arc[]

After the Hango Campaign's failure and the devastating losses, the Qin Court decides to change their target to the state of Han with the Three Pillars reformations. Tou is assigned the Commander-in-Chief of the conquest of Han and to subjugate the weak state.

Tou is a military commander whose thoughts are difficult to read, and his experience is what truly makes him a troublesome opponent. With the experience he has earned by surviving multitudes of battlefields as Ou Ki's Right Hand man, Tou has practically no openings to take advantage of. According to Go Hou Mei, Tou is the only military commander in Qin who can be considered to be without flaws. Even the late Ou Ki stated that his abilities were not below his own in which Tou would prove that he is a worthy successor of his renowned lord.

Physical Abilities[]

Immense Strength: Tou demonstrates a strong physical prowess as he is able to break through enemy lines with ease. He was able to save his dying lord from a powerful strike from the mighty Bu Shin, Hou Ken.

Master Swordsman: Tou is an extremely powerful master swordsman armed with decades of experience from countless campaigns and arguably the greatest sword wielder amongst Qin's Great Generals. In the first showing of his skills, he swiftly beheaded the majority of Sei Kyou's fleeing officials in a single strike from his blade.[3] and overcame the weaknesses of the sword in terms of reach as he's killed multiple spearmen on the battlefield with little effort.[4]

He is the second generation of the Rasen, a very unique form of swordsmanship that allows a near invincible form of sword fighting for its practitioner.

The technique is the final form of the weapon and by gripping the sword halt with one's pinky finger the wielder can spin the tip of the blade to create invisible "circles" that are referred to as "Rasen" and by manipulating them the wielder can become invincible to the point they cut clean through Chu's armor. By hearing the "Faru Faru" sound of the sword the wielder has already mastered the Rasen.

Immense Speed: Tou's hand speed is very quick to the point where he can cut down men before they can even register his movements, making him one of the fastest combatants in the series.

Leadership[]

Tou is a courageous leader and is very formidable enough to personally inspire men by leading the charge. Not only that, but Tou is also great in judging a person's skill, potential and character. During the coalition invasion he gave both Ou Hon and Mou Ten command of his flank knowing what they were capable. During the Choyou Campaign, he entrusted both Ou Hon and Shin to succeed. During his 1 day stay in Han he directly understood the political state of the Han imperial court and he understood Nei and Kan Pishi's characters which lead to him discovering the official's influence on Han's court.

Tactical Abilities[]

Master Strategist: Tou possesses a sharp mind as his eyes and mind for tactics on par with the greatest of strategists built from decades of experience in his previous service as Ou Ki's lieutenant and countless battlefronts since the era of the War God.

During the Battle of Kankoku Pass, he was able to deduce the Ka Rin Army's strategies and instantly thought of a way to counter them by using a defensive formations and tactics and at the Battle at Gecchi Plains, he was able to pick up on Go Hei Mei's change in strategy and quickly acted accordingly in order to capture Ju Ko'Ou's HQ.

Military Formation: Tou is capable of performing and creating military formations. When encircled by Ka Rin's forces, he deployed and utilized the Bell Formation to defend against the attack.
