Shintei is a city in the 'Eisen' commandery of Qin.[1] It was previously the capital city of the of the former state of Han, until Han surrendered to Qin in 230 B.C.[2] It was also the capital of the state of Jin, before Jin split into the three states of Han, Wei, and Zhao.[3]

Location[]

Shintei was located in Han's interior territories, while the state of Han still existed. The exact boundaries of Han changed over time but it remained roughly in the center of the China landmass. After Han's capture, the state was turned into a commandery of Qin named 'Eisen'[1]

Structure[]

Despite it being the capital of the smallest and weakest kingdom in the Warring State, Shintei is a large and prosperous capital city, described as being even bigger than Kanyou, due to it being right in the middle of China and being the former capital of the ancient Jin, the predecessor states of Han, Zhao and Wei. Its walls and defenses are considered impregnable and comparable to other mighty castles like Gyou or Kantan of Zhao.

Story[]

Nature Of Humanity Arc[]

In 233 B.C.,[4] after the loss of Kan Ki, Shou Hei Kun adjusts Qin's overall strategy, and has Six Great Generals Tou and Generals Roku O Mi and Ri Shin escort a delegation to Han's capital Shintei, to observe Shintei's fortifications and prepare for an attack on Han in the near future, as the delegation invites Kan Pishi, the Genius of Legalism, to Qin.[5]

When the Qin delegation first enters Shintei, Shin is astounded by its size. Roku O Mi agrees with Shin's sentiment that Shintei might be bigger than Kanyou. Before entering Han's imperial court, Tou and Han Princess Nei have their first encounter.[3] Later that day, Kan Pishi would agree to head to Qin,[6] and Qin's delegation would depart from Shintei after a single day.[4]

Three Pillars Arc[]

After Qin's losses at Hango, Shou Hei Kun comes up with three pillars to return Qin to the path towards unification,[7] and as part of military reform, the second pillar, has several Generals promoted to one step below a Great General. The Hi Shin Unit is made a 60,000 man army, receives several promotions, and is ordered to join the Tou Army's 100,000 men and bring down Han[8] within two years in order to erect the third pillar, which is to use the land, people, and money of Han as newfound strength to once again challenge and defeat Ri Boku and destroy Zhao.[9]

In Shintei, Han's officials react to the news of Qin invading Han, threatening to take Shintei and bring ruin to Han.[10] After hearing that Qin had sent 260,000 soldiers to attack their stronghold of Nanyou,[11] Shintei order the soldiers stationed in Nanyou to retreat back to Shintei, and abandon the civilians to the Qin army.[12]

After taking control of Nanyou, Tou would instruct the Qin army to wait in Shintei until "the time is ripe", with the belief that the key to assaulting Shintei lies in Nanyou. Under Kanyou's orders, the Qin regional governor Gou Kei[13] and Nanyou's lord Ryuu'an work together and manage the city in line with Tou's vision.[14]

In 230 B.C., the Qin armies would set out from Nanyou and begin their attack on Shintei, with the goal of bringing down Han.[15]

Conquest of Han Arc[]

Kanyou receives a report that the Tou Army stationed at Nanyou was finally making their move to Shintei. Ri Shi warns that the Nanyou armies were sent to Shintei. Ei Sei reassures the court that Tou was most aware of the fact that the fate of Qin rests in the outcome of their attack on Shintei. Before departing for Shintei, Tou asks Ryuu'an to spread the word of Nanyou's current state of affairs to as many cities as they could.[16]

Shintei receives word of the Qin army's departure from Nanyou, and prepare for the inevitable. Right after King Ou An sends Raku'A Kan and Haku'ou Koku to engage Qin, Shintei receives an envoy from Nanyou, informing Shintei of the utopia that Nanyou had become. The envoy's words are treated as lies, and he is thrown in jail. Having recognized the envoy, Nei secretly visits him in jail.[17]

Qin and Wei prepare for battle at Rakushi Castle, bordering Han and Wei up until its recent capture by the Gyoku Hou Army to prevent Wei from sending reinforcements to Han. Similarly, Qin and Zhao standby for battle, near the border of Qin and Zhao where the Gaku Ka Army are deployed. The states of China watch the battle between Qin and Han on Eitei Plains.[18]

After the battle at Eitei Plains starts, Tou departs from the headquarters, and secretly meets Nei[19]
