The Saki Clan (砂鬼一家) was originally a group of bandits and were one of the oldest units under the Kan Ki Army's command. They were one of the many bandit groups recruited to form the army. Members of the clan dress themselves in straw-like helmets that cover their faces, wore grisly necklaces of mummified fingers or ears, and carry long handle curved scythe alongside tools for torture and surgery.

History[]

Unlike the rest of the clans in the Kan Ki Army, they are not named after their leader but after a monstrous and terrifying sand demon that Shou recounted to Kan Ki. The Saki is one of the clans absorbed by the Qin Military through General Kan Ki. They are not frequently employed on the front, but rather explore psychological warfare, as they are adepts of creating gruesome spectacles that could turn the stomach of even the most experienced soldiers. Since the Saki are so good at torture, they are often used by Kan Ki to extract information from captured enemies, and even to intimidate allies into cooperating thoroughly with the Kan Ki Army. Unlike most clans, they are not represented in Kan Ki's inner circle of commanders and yet are said to be the most intimately intertwined with his history. While exchanging secrets with disparate allies during the Battle of Gian for support, Io, the leader of the clan, privately confirmed this with Ri Shin and Na Ki by remarking how Kan Ki had been the Clan's first member to be adopted by them when they were a band of outcast children and reformed into a ruthless band of bandits.

Story[]

Sanyou Campaign Arc[]

Because of the sheer brutality of the terror tactics employed by the Kan Ki army during the Sanyou Campaign, it is implied that the Saki Clan had been involved in it. During that battle, Kan Ki would often send wagons to the Wei headquarters "driven" by horribly mutilated soldiers. These wagons carried bags filled with eyeballs, ears and other unsavory human remains. The Saki were probably involved in the creation of a huge "human forest" made entirely of impaled Wei soldiers.

Koku You Campaign Arc[]

In the earlier stages of the campaign, the Saki Clan were spotted maneuvering right behind the Zenou Clan. Members of the unit were able to extract information from enemies through torture, allowing Kan Ki to learn much about Zhao's intentions. In that same campaign, the Saki were tasked to create an arch made of the bodies of mutilated Zhao civilians. Later, in the eve of a decisive battle, Kan Ki tasked the Hi Shin Unit with the protection of his left flank, warning Shin that the Saki Clan would pay him a visit, should his unit not perform as expected.

Western Zhao Invasion Arc[]

During the Qin 's invasion of Zhao, the Saki were deployed as reserves, but also used as deterrent by Kan Ki at the siege of Gyou for anyone found stealing food.

Battle of Eikyuu Arc[]

The Saki were briefly mentioned by Rai Do, as he and his men were being brutally dismembered by the torturers of Ko Chou. Rai Do mocked them, saying that the Saki Clan were even crueler than the Ko Chou torturers, and that he had seen and done much worse.

Zhao's Retaliation Arc[]

The Saki Clan was not among Great General Kan Ki's main army during the campaign in the northern parts of Zhao. Instead, they were ordered to form up with Han Zen and the engineering core and take the city of Gian, while General Ri Boku was distracted chasing after Kan Ki and his men.

After the Hi Shin Unit and the Gaku Ka Army manages to break through Ri Boku's encirclement, they hide in the forests where they rest. They stumbled upon Han Zen and his Siege Tower, Kou Shun, being escorted by his soldiers and the Saki Clan. General Ri Shin deduced what the Saki Clan intends do to the civilian population of Gian during the siege and threatens to stop them even if with lethal intent.

However, Na Ki innerves before anything escalates, and bargains with the Kan Ki soldiers and Saki members with the cooperation of the Hi Shin Army in the siege of Gian. but only if the mysterious Saki members unmask themselves and reveal some information about Kan Ki's origins. Their leader agrees and appears before them. Unmasking and introducing herself, Io, tells them that Kan Ki himself has always been a member of clan since before joining the Qin Military.

Abilities[]

The Saki members are widely infamous for their excessive sadism throughout the Kan Ki Army. As such, they are the ones tasked with the gathering and extracting information from captured enemies - through gruesome and vicious forms of torture practices. They do not hesitate into following Kan Ki's commands, and their lack of conscience makes them perfect to do the dirtiest of tasks. Ironically, due to their long experiences in inflicting vicious torture on the Kan Ki Army's enemies, they are also experienced in field surgery to the point of bringing back three heavily injured allies from the brink of death. Certain unique practices used include using cold and boiling water to clean their bare hands and others' wounds as well as sterilizing sewing needles with flames.
