“ | All I have done and all I ever will do is to keep moving forward while piercing through anyone who stands in my way! | ” |
—Ou Hon to Gyou'un |
Ou Hon is a General of the Qin Military and the leader of the Gyoku Hou Army. He is the heir to the Ou Family's main branch and the son of Great General Ou Sen the third member of the Six Great Generals, the husband of Sai Ka, and a relative to the late Great General Ou Ki.
Appearance[]
Ou Hon wears full body armor that is quite similar to that of the other soldiers. His front armor has the design of the head of a dragon while his metal shoulder pads have the design of a phoenix on them, Ou Hon keeps his long hair tied up kept in place by a metal hairband.
Personality[]
When he first appeared, Ou Hon looked down on anyone who does not belong to the noble caste. Although he appreciates the idea of having commoners fight in wars, he does not appreciate them being on the same level as him or any other nobles.
A no-nonsense and serious person by nature, Ou Hon takes pride in being a commander in the army, bordering on arrogance. He possesses a deep desire to become a Great General of Heavens and describes it as his duty and obligation as the heir of the main branch of the Ou Family. Being the successor to the Ou Family, he cuts himself no slack as he attempts to practice with his spear. This resolve started from a young age when he practiced and trained tirelessly despite being naturally gifted. Even when he was wounded by Rin Ko, he still practiced his daily routine.
When they first met, Ou Hon held a great amount of disdain against Shin because he thought the likes of him should not have become a 300-Man Commander due to his low social status background. In the Choyou Campaign, he still didn't acknowledge Shin's skill, although he had probably noticed the powerful strength of the New Hi Shin Unit. Later, he gains more trust in them and even leaves them with important tasks instead of always competing for achievements.
He does have a dry sense of humor as he said there would be a trap for the Gaku Ka Unit after how they took the city by taking advantage of the efforts made by the Gyoku Hou unit. When Shin rebukes him for using the siege tower, he commented that Shin shouldn't have made a big fuss about it as what you are born into is a talent in itself.
Relationships[]
Ban You[]
Tasked with the responsibility of taking care of him since his childhood, Ou Hon holds a great amount of trust in his old teacher as the man has been present with him since their early days as a 100-Man unit and continues to serve as the Right-Hand Man of the Gyoku Hou Unit. He also clearly demonstrated his unflinching affection for the old soldier during the Battle at Shukai Plains, as he unhesitatingly went back to save him from the Gyou'un Army's attack.
Ou Sen[]
“ | I will not allow you...to lay a single finger on our supreme commander!! | ” |
—Ou Hon to Ba Na Ji and Fu Tei during their flanking attack on Ou Sen's HQ. |
Ou Hon cares deeply about his father, even though the two of them have rarely interact with each other. Though they showed a strain relationship between father and son. Ou Hon secretly cares and willingly risk his life to save his only father in dire situations.
Shu Kei[]
It's presently unknown on how exactly Ou Hon feels towards his deceased mother.
Sai Ka[]
Ou Hon and Sai Ka were engaged for a while. He would marry her after his promotion to the rank of a general. Everything besides the fact that she is his wife and gave birth to his child is unknown so far.
Ou Ki[]
When he gave his full name to Shin, he mentioned Ou Ki, belonging to the same family as the Great General.
Ri Shin[]
Since the moment they met, Shin and Ou Hon have had an intense rivalry type relationship, often seen arguing and fighting for achievements. While Ou Hon did not have a very high opinion on the Hi Shin Unit in the beginning due to their peasant background, in time he grows to respect and even trust his rival unit, even leaving to them important battlefield missions despite that him and Ri Shin continuing to be highly competitive towards each other.
Mou Ten[]
Mou Ten and Ou Hon seem to know each other from the long time. Ou Hon respects his talent and sees him as his friend as they meet up for drinks together.
Kan Jou[]
Initially suspicious of Kan Jou as he was part of Ou Sen's army, Kan Jou was seen as a valuable commander of 1000 men due to his expertise on hit and run. They would later grow closer in bonds and Ou Hon later-on being respected by Kan Jou after Ou Hon won the duel against Wei's greatest Spearman. And during Battle at Shukai Plains they both risked their lives to save on another from Gyou'un which suggest their bond has gotten even deeper.
Abilities[]
“ | Amazing...!! It's been a while since we last saw Hon-sama get serious, he was already strong enough with speed and precision from before...But now, it's almost as if his spear has the same destructive force of Earl Shi of the Wei Fire Dragon!! | ” |

Ou Hon is an extraordinarily adept military commander, boasting the highest overall stats amongst the Qin Three, Mou Ten, Shin & Himself. His talent is so great that it was considered possibly even higher then Mou Ten's.[2] The Guidebook 2 also describes him as the leader of a new generation of commanders.[1]
Physical Abilities[]
Master Spearman: Ou Hon has demonstrated his prowess and exceptionally ability as a spear user who has been training with the weapon since he was a child.[3] His superior skill is seen in how he easily kills multiple opponents with lethal thrusts to their vital points and this is done at such a speed that they are given little time to react. The nature of his spear emphasizes "accuracy" to be able to punch through at a single point.[4] Because of that, Mou Ten comments that even a dozen men couldn't get anywhere near him with his deadly spear technique.[5] Ou Hon was trained from the foundation up in the orthodox spear technique. In this spear technique, there exist countless different "forms" to be used against opponents. "Defense, counter, offense" forms devised for different effects.[6] However, to properly utilize these forms in actual combat would require extraordinary amounts of training and experience. Ou Hon was able to demonstrate this in his final duel with Earl Shi and slay the Great General by exploiting his weakness. At the time of Battle at Shukai Plains, Ou Hon's spearmanship greatly improved with Ban You stating that his ability at that point was already among the top five best spear users in the central plains.[7] This was first shown when he matched Ba Nan Ji in a brief duel as he overpowered and countered the Zhao general, fought against and later killed Gyou’un, the powerful Zhao veteran general.
- Dragon's Talon: A lethal spear technique used by advanced spear wielder and requires immense training as well as mastery of the spear to be used in combat. It relies on the manipulation of the spear by its wielder to change the trajectory of the blow at will.
- Shadow Dragon's Talon: A variation of Dragon's Talon. Its purpose is to kill an opponent that is behind the user's back with a quick stab without even looking at the target.
- Dragon's Nest: A spear technique that relies on the manipulation of the spear by its wielder to create the multi-directional attack, making it seem like several spears striking at once.
Immense Strength: Ou Hon is a walking physical powerhouse due to his constant spear training despite appearing to be slender. His strength is practically on par with Shin's as he sent him flying with a reverse thrust from his spear during their first meeting and blew away an entire battalion of Wei soldiers with pinpoint hits to their vitals during the Sanyou Campaign.[8] He was able to blow away the physically powerful Kou Yoku, who is known for own his destructive strength, with his spear thrusts while saving Mou Ten. And since becoming a 4000-Man Commander, his strength grew even further as he easily knocked away Shin's heavy glaive strike with one hand during their reunion bout.[9] And at the time of Battle at Shukai Plains his attacks were already said to be on par with Earl Shi in terms of destructive power as he was able to hard press Zhao general Ba Nan Ji with his attacks.[10]
Immense Endurance: Ou Hon demonstrates impressive willpower that allowed him to continue fighting even with serious injuries. During the Gyoku Hou and Hi Shin Units' attack on the Rin Ko Army's HQ together with Shin he challenged Rin Ko to a duel while still suffering from his earlier wound.[11] This endurance of his has only grown over the years as he was able to slay Wei Fire Dragon Earl Shi while having a hole in his chest and multiple other injuries.[12] And during Battle at Shukai Plains just a day after he was in near-death state he returned to the battlefield to slay Zhao general Gyou’un. He was able to remain conscious to save his father from Ba Nan Ji and Fu Tei's pincer and witness the end of the battle.
Leadership[]
Ou Hon is a natural-born leader who's capable of inspiring his soldiers to a high degree. On some occasions he was shown to rally his troops with a rousing speech before an important clash.[13] During the Battle at Shukai Plains after A Kou became incapable of commanding he became a prime candidate for the next wing commander. It was noted that if he took control of the wing it would give a great boost of morale to A Kou Army.[14] Later, with a passionate speech, he was able to "awaken" his entire unit of hungry and tired soldiers to the point where they were able to push back the Chou Ga Ryuu Army - a feat that was directly compared to Six Great Generals.[15] Ou Hon's connection to his men is so strong that many of them like Ban You, Kan Jou or Kyuu Kou are ready to sacrifice their lives for his sake.
Tactical Abilities[]
Master Strategist: Ou Hon has proven himself to be a capable strategist and incredibly dangerous tactician. His style is to use high risks, high reward warfare as he often takes big gambles at the risk of exposing himself or part of his army. On many occasions he aims for enemy's HQ or their commander's head. He also is talented in figuring out solutions that are not obvious at first sight.
During the siege of Kourou City, he devised a plan to use a combination of smokescreen, a siege tower, ropes, and defensive formations to open the city gates.[16] When faced against Gen Pou's smoke trap he was able to quickly assess the situation, exterminate the sound teams around him and rush out of the smoke to save Shin - a feat that highly impressed even Gen Pou.[17] Most notably was his striking insight during the Choyou Campaign, where he noticed a weakness in Go Hou Mei's defensive formation and created a successful strategy that dictated the battle plan of the overall battlefield.[18] He also convinced General Tou not to call for General Ou Sen's help who was stationed north of them for more reinforcements which would result in an attack from the Zhao which would've thrown Qin's whole eastern front into disarray.[19]
And while reluctant to work with others at first, Ou Hon's ability in cooperatively tactic is brilliant as well. During the Battle of Kankoku Pass, he executed precision attack raids with the Gaku Ka Unit to focus on the attacking Ka Rin Army's exposed back to give the Tou Army breathing room to reorganized and counter the Chu's onslaught after being temporarily promoted to the role of a 5000-Man Commander. This was done without any prior signal or verbal communication between the units. His view of the battlefield continued to grow with his promotion to a 5000-Man Commander. During the second day of the Battle at Shukai Plains, he was able to come up with a counterattack plan on the spot while being pincered by the two armies of Chou Ga Ryuu and Gaku'Ei, by having Ban You lead most of the Gyoku Hou away while he led a detachment comprised up to 600-700 Calvary to attack the edges of the Ba Nan Ji Army's formation. This resulted in its collapse and crippling as they could longer pose a threat to the Qin right-wing.[20]
Ou Hon's tactics have evolved even further since becoming a General.[21] During the Battle of Eikyuu after some probing and days of fighting he discovered the weak spot in the natural fortress' defenses and gave the plan to Shin. In addition, he sent A Ka Kin and his unit to pincer the Zhao forces from behind in a crucial moment. This enabled the Hi Shin Unit to capture the fort, something that they themselves considered impossible without his help.[22]
