Ou An is the 22nd King of the state of Han, and its current monarch.
Appearance[]
Ou An is a middle-aged man with black hair, big eyebrows, mustache and a goatee. He wears decorated robes of a monarch.
Personnality[]
As a monarch, Ou An is generally shown as having a concerned look in his face, no matter the situation. He is usually very calm and reserved; leaving most of the talking to his Prime Minister Chou, to whom he seems to hold a lot of respect because he is constantly seen asking for his opinion whenever a choice is needed to be made.
Compared to other kings in China such as Tou Jou and his son Yuu Boku of Zhao, Ou An seems to deeply care about his state and its people. He is deeply obsessed with survival, which comes from the fact of the state of Han being the smallest and the weakest in the continent, placed right in the center of China and surrounding from all sides by larger neighbouring states like Zhao, Wei, Qin, and Chu. This means that Han has had to constantly make concessions such as abandonning castles and regions for a long time in order to be able to survive, a national method that Ou An has completely accepted.
For these reasons, Ou An is ready to take any measure possible, even the most extreme ones, in order for Han to be able to survive. On the other hand, he is eager to go to battle whenever he is left with no other choice, being able to use his charisma and position as a king to deliver fiery speeches in order to boost up the morale of his royal court.
Story[]
Western Zhao Invasion Arc[]
When he is informed about all three Qin generals leaving Retsubi, Ou An stays silent and calm.
Battle of Eikyuu Arc[]
After the official declaration of Qin's revival of the Six Great Generals, the royal court in Shintei is in uproar, Ou An agrees with his General Raku'A Kan's proposition of establishing an alliance with Chu, adding that Han will need to reinforce its armies as much as they can.
Nature Of Humanity Arc[]
Ou An is present at the court during the arrival of the Qin delegation that came to bring Kan Pishi back to their state. After the head of the delegation, Kai Oku, greets him, Ou An doesn't waste any time by guiding the conversation towards forcing Kai Oku to consider and accept an alliance between Han and Qin, believing that the latter have much to gain due to Han being like the "cornerstone" of Qin's national defense.
But Kai Oku refuses to accept the proposition, detailing how he doesn't have the authority required for it, and that they only came for Kan Pishi. After some back and forth between him and Han's Prime Minister Chou regarding the grievances between both states, they both fail to come to an understanding. The king is then asked by Chou if they should hear Kan Pishi's opinion on the matter, to which Ou An agrees, ordering Kan Pishi to be summoned.
Three Pillars Arc[]
After the news of a 60,000 strong Qin army invading Han, the entire royal court is in disarray. As Princess Nei is perplexed by Prime Minister Chou's statement of potentially being forced to abandon some castles and regions in order to concentrate Han's forces against the invaders, Ou An tells his daughter that this is how Han has survived for many years since before she was born, stating that powerless nations like Han need to have the courage to accept losing, and the wisdom to concentrate their might in places they can't lose.
After the news of an additional two invading armies of 100,000 strong each, Ou An orders the abandonment of the strategic city of Nanyou, and the retreat of the 70,000 Han forces currently there back towards the capital. The princess cries out to him for fear of what would happen to Nanyou's citizens, to which Ou An responds that the most important is to not lose the soldiers stationed there, as Shintei cannot be let to fall under the hands of the invaders. He then somberly mumbles how this is the way Han has managed to survive for all this time despite its inferior numbers and military power.
A year later, after Qin's armies took hold of Nanyou while Han reinforced itself in preparation for the war, Ou An orders for his Generals Raku'A Kan and Haku'ou Koku to go to battle and defeat the invading army once and for all.
Abilities[]
As a king, Ou An has a great political power within the state of Han and can make key decisions for his people.
