Muta was an assassin from the south that was sent to kill Ei Sei during Sei Kyou's rebellion.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Muta wore a poncho, making his outfit very reminiscent of Ka Ryo Ten. He also had face paint, giving him a very foreign appearance.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Muta was very proud of his people, the Basha tribe, and their fighting style. He was constantly proving that the fighting style of his people was equal, if not superior then other fighting styles. He didn't have any problem with killing people that were in his way.

History[edit | edit source]

Muta was from a tribe called the Bessa Tribe that is located in the south of what was once the Yue kingdom, along the southeastern coast of Chu. His tribe is especially known for their deadly poison that can kill with even just a scratch from the dart. When Qin attacked the Chu, Muta's army helped with the battle. After Qin saw his power, they brought him back to their kingdom.

Story[edit | edit source]

Sei Kyou's Rebellion Arc[edit | edit source]

Muta first appeared appears as a hired assassin to find Ei Sei, Shin, and Ten. He finally caught up to them when they reached Mu Gong's resort in the mountains and immediately began to fight Shin. He had a strong killer instinct that initially intimidated Shin, but he was eventually defeated after Shin was able to overcome his fears.

When he was about to shoot a poison dart at Ei Sei, he was foiled by Shou Bun Kun. Everyone thought he was killed by the blow, but Ten found out later that he was still alive but about to die. In return for not telling the others he was alive, Muta gave Ten some sleeping darts, his dart gun, and advice to leave Ei Sei immediately.

State of Ai Arc[edit | edit source]

A member of the Clan Shukyou, who was sent as a spy by Ri Shi, is killed by a person wearing the same clothes as Muta. But his face is not revealed, so it can not be said for sure.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

Muta's strengths are his monstrous physical strength and almost inhuman sense of smell, which he used to track the boys. He had strips of cloth hanging around his neck that he used to create a small tornado as a distraction before attacking his opponent. Along with his deadly poison, he used two axes as his weapons.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Muta apparently did not get along with Jo Kan at all despite them both being assassins for Sei Kyou. The latter did not respect Muta's poison or power and had called him cowardly, which is why Muta chooses to fight Shin with his axes rather than his darts.
  • In Anime, he was called Vietnamese.
