The Name's Kou Yoku The Thunder! 5000-Man commander of Chu!! It's showdown time, Qin Commander Tou!!

—To Tou and the Tou Army.

Kou Yoku, also as the "Thunder", is a General of the Chu Military and leader of the Kou Yoku Army. He is around the same age as Ri Shin, Ou Hon, and Mou Ten and a part of Chu's young generation of military commanders.

Appearance[]

Kou Yoku is clean-shaven and has shoulder-length, greasy looking long black hair. He is shown to have a muscled appearance with numerous scars across his body and on his arms.

Personality[]

Kou Yoku's personality is similar to that of Shin's: Rude, laid back and intense when it comes to combat. But unlike his Qin rival, Kou Yoku is bit more pragmatic when it comes to certain situations and showed himself to be a bit more intelligent. After his promotion to a 5000-Man Commander, Kou Yoku knew that a hastily assembled unit of that size wouldn't be able fight together and while he was burning with revenge in wanting to kill Tou, he instead ordered his soldiers to surround and kill him instead of choosing to duel the Qin general one-on-one. Aside from his overall personality, he isn't afraid to voice his displeasures to his superiors and can be extremely arrogant along with being flippant. He also appears to be an Instinctual Type down to his core.

Relationships[]

Haku Rei[]

Yoku has a deep respect and friendship with Rei after fighting together on numerous battlefields together for years while also saving each other's lives over hundreds of times. He will defend Rei against anyone that aims for his life with extreme prejudice.

Rin Bu Kun[]

Yoku admired Rin Bu Kun and saw him as the pinnacle of what a General is. After Rin Bu Kun was killed, he broke into tears with devastating sadness while swearing to take revenge for his death by brutally killing the one responsible. He tries to imitate him by fighting the strongest commanders from the enemy army to hone his own skill and a way to honor his late friend and hasn't forgot about his death even after years later.

Shun Shin Kun[]

Yoku greatly respect his Prime Minister but was also unnerved by his caustic nature despite his having own. He was greatly shocked and outrage at the news of his death as he broke into the funeral to demand answers on his sudden death.

Ka Rin[]

Kou Yoku dislikes her style of warfare, as the generals he admires, are strong fighters, while she is a genius strategist, but he has admitted that she is a very capable general and he is thankful for her to promote him multiple times and support his growth. And he is very adamant that he won't sleep with her even though she offers it as a reward for impossible missions.

Bam Yu[]

Shin, Mou Ten, Ou Hon[]

He fought with each of them and respects them as rivals. He uses them to compare himself to other new, talented generals through individual prowess and capabilities as a general.

Tou[]

Tou is his nemesis as he has sworn to avenge Rin Bu Kun's death.

History[]

Kou Yoku spent many years touring the Southern battle lines of Chu with Rin Bu Kun and Haku Rei mostly likely since his days as a 100-Man Commander.

Story[]

Sanyou Aftermath Arc[]

After the Qin army had successfully conquered the Sanyou region of Wei, Kou Yoku and Haku Rei were stationed at the Qin border under the command of General Rin Bu Kun. He went to taunt the Hi Shin Unit with arrows for three days until Shin has enough and jumps from the top of their post on the cliff to kill him, He blocks the attack, and they soon begin trading blows. The Chu retreat to stop a battle from breaking out but Shin continues to chase them. Yoku fires arrows at him but Shin easily deflects them before Haku Rei knocked him off his horse with one shot. Shin then tells them the young 1000-Man Commanders of Qin are all monsters and they aren't in the same league. Later, he is scolded by Rin Bun Kun and Rei for engaging in a fight with Shin. He then asked him about Shin's abilities and responds by saying he was nothing special. Rei adds that he was actually quite strong as he blocked his arrows but states that he wouldn't be match for Yoku with his Bakuya Sword. A few days, later the Qin and Chu withdraw back their respective forces and return home.

Coalition Invasion Arc[]

Kou Yoku was present for the meet up between Shun Shin Kun and Ri Boku. After the meeting, Rin Bu Kun asked Shun Shin Kun if Ri Boku was planning a Chu/Zhao Alliance. To which he told them that they were underestimating Ri Boku because it is something far more terrifying than they could imagine. Months later, he is part of the first wave of Chu forces invading Qin from the border and is shocked when their army encounters the Tou Army.

During the Battle of Kankoku Pass against Qin, Yoku is placed in the Chu 1st Army along with Rei, led by General Rin Bu Kun. He tried to kill Mou Ten, but Mou Ten easily parries his blows. Then he remembered Shin's words about the young 1000-Man Commanders of Qin and was about to pull out his Bakuya Sword, but the duel was halted when Roku O Mi came charging in to slay Rin Bu Kun.

Later, when Mou Ten is about to slay Haku Rei, Yoku arrives to parry the blow, knocking Mou Ten off his horse. Before he can kill Mou Ten, Ou Hon arrives to save him, and both forces engage each other in battle. Kou Yoku unsheathes his Bakuya Sword and duels Ou Hon. As they clash, word arrives of Rinbukun's death at Tou's hands.

At night, as they cremate Rinbukun’s body, he promises to get revenge by killing Tou.

The next day, he and Hakurei are transferred to the 2nd Army said to be dangerous even for allies; under the command of General Ka Rin. Later that day, everyone from the first army above the rank of 1000-Man Commander was gathered up. They were shocked to meet the giant, cold-hearted General Karin. She calls out Rin Bun Kun's lieutenant Ro Kin. As he pledges his loyalty, she kicks and breaks his neck, saying she has no use for "incompetent fools who reek of that baldie." and that if it was up to her, they would all be executed. She later declares that the remnants of the 1st Army will fight that day with no assistance from her 2nd Army. And if they are unable to slay the enemy general Tou, they will all be executed. She leaves telling them that if they tell anyone about her height their heads will roll.

During the 15th day of the battle, General Karin, seeing that Tou himself is on the battlefield, promotes Yoku to a 5000-Man Commander and orders him to aim for Tou's head. Yoku takes this opportunity to avenge Rin Bun Kun and heads out. In an attempt to surround the enemy general, Yoku spreads his army while engaging Tou in combat himself. As the two men duel, their armies try to take each other out. This way, Yoku keeps Tou occupied and prevents him from attacking the Ka Rin Army, who has now entered the battlefield as well.

State of Ai Arc[]

Yoku and Rei along with Ka Rin and other members of the Chu military appear to wage against the Qin in order to pressure them in the south. They take part in the Battle of Gento.

Koku You Campaign Arc[]

Panicking and shocked, Yoku and Haku Rei return to the capital after Shun Shin Kun's assassination as he demands answers to what has happened to their Prime Minister. He is later present when Ka Rin meets with Ren Pa and Ri En.

War of the Three States Arc[]

Ka Rin dispatches both Kou Yoku and Haku Rei, both who were now newly promoted Generals, to assist the Juuko Army in repelling the Qin invasion led by Mou Bu. As soon as they arrive on the battlefield, they immediately engaged the Roku O Mi Army in an attempt to wipe them out but were given orders to reorganize the formation from Juuko Army's strategist when a Wei army of 70,000 arrive as allies to Qin.

The battle of Qin/Wei alliance, 120,000 soldiers, vs Chu, 110,000 soldiers, began with the Chu losing ground. But was halted by the elite army of the Man'U Army and Gen'U Army. The tide changes when Ba Kai, a general of Wei is killed by Gen'U. Forcing Go Hou Mei to change Wei to take up as a support role while the Qin as offensive role to take down the Chu's HQ.

In the midst of the battlefield, Kou Yoku is ordered to handle Tou and meets his older rival since the last encounter from the Coalition's Invasion six years ago. Kou Yoku gleefully states that Tou shouldn't blink or else he'll get slice up several times which the Great General replies 'he's a thousand years too early' with a smirk. After a brief duel between the two. Kou Yoku is interrupted with the arrival of Ran Bi Haku and his army. Not realizing what Tou had in mind, the Qin general slipped pasts Kou Yoku and had his men follow him to strike at Chu's HQ.

Yoku, surprised of this event, chases after them before they could reach Chu HQ. Thanks to Haku Rei's 'Snipe Shot', though failed to kill Tou, has given Kou Yoku a time to catch up to him but is again interrupted by Ran Bi Haku. Allowing Tou to captured Chu HQ, while Kou Yoku is preoccupied with the 'Berserker'. The fall of Ju Ko'Ou's HQ forces all Chu forces to withdraw and regroup. Much to Kou Yoku's dissatisfaction. Later on, found out that Juuko city is captured by Wei Army, Man U, having no intention on retaking back, decides to retreat back to Chu's capital Ei. With their first campaign as generals both for him and Rei leaving in crushing defeat, they were in a bad mood.

The name's Kou Yoku, 1000-man commander of Chu also known the Thunder!

(Chapter 254: Chu's Young Generation)

From the very start, I knew that we wouldn't be able to fight as a hastily formed 5000-Man Army. But a "5000-man commander's head" is plenty to serve as bait to lure out Tou. All that's left is for me to Kill Him!!

(Chapter 307: 5000-Man Commander Kou Yoku, page 31)

Tch.
