|“||I always questioned Ryo Fui's judgement when he recommended these youngsters so strongly. . . But now I understand the reason.||”|
—Dou Ken, passed through the Kaian Gate
Kou Shou had long dark brown hair in a ponytail, hazel colored eyes, an earring on his right ear, and had a scar on his right cheek. He wore pea-green clothing with yellow-green trim and an unknown symbol pattern, a red sash, and sandals.
Kou Shou was a candid speaker and was never afraid to speak his mind on matters he believed were dangerous.
A war orphan, he was rescued and adopted by Shi Kei along with Shi Ka and A Mon 18 years prior to meeting Ei Sei. Later on, he and A Mon would both swear that they wouldn't let Shi Ka die until they did. At the age of 16, he confessed his feelings to Shi Ka but was turned down as she wanted to follow their adoptive father's footsteps. Several years later, he is seen working with the Shi Ka and A Mon as smugglers and hired to help Sei escaped from Zhao. While being pursued by Zhao cavalry, he was shot in the back with an arrow and was killed trying to slow the Zhao pursuers (but not before taking one of them with him with a sword thrust).
