During the Keiyou Campaign, Koku Gou was supposed to join the main Qin army and assist in the siege of Keiyou. However, before the main army arrived, his castle was raided by General Go Kei, a known genius at warfare.
Koku Gou got killed by a spear thrust to the lower body and died defending the castle from the Wei army. His severed head was thrown among those of the castle's inhabitants who were summarily slaughtered by the victorious Wei army. These victims included children, women and the elderly. The Qin flag was cut down and Wei's own now flew on its mast instead.
