The Ko Chou Army was an army led by Great General Ko Chou of the state of Zhao. The largest portions of the army were destroyed and captured after the major defeat in Battle of Eikyuu.

History[]

The Ko Chou Army was stationed in the frontline of En in the past before they were assigned to defend the Zhao's capital, Kantan.

Story[]

Western Zhao Invasion Arc[]

Ko Chou and a portion of the army are the assigned the task of recapturing the abandoned Retsubi by Ri Boku. They reclaim the city and stay on to defend the stronghold from further invasion from the Qin with an army composed of 50,000 soldiers.[1]

Shun Sui Ju and his forces would join Ko Chou and reinforce the stronghold after his defeat at the Battle of Ryouyou and the loss of Ryouyou. After the city of Gyou is captured, a Qin army led by Kai Oku attempt to resupply their starving allies but Shun Sui Ju intercepts and attacks them. But the attempt was merely a ploy to distract the Zhao from their real attempt by sailing the Wei River with food supplies. But the Zhao are already prepared with their respective navy to destroy the Qin Navy's ships.[2]

However, the Qin are able to receive food supplies from the state of Qi as par the alliance between them. As the news of Qin's capture of Gyou reaches the other states, a Qin army of 40,000 led by Great General Tou arrives and marches towards Retsubi. Ko Chou, still unaware of Ri Boku's arrest, reassures his worried commanders that they can leave the problem of Gyou to the Great Heaven band they assume positions to meet the Tou Army on the battlefield. Meanwhile at Gyou, a recovered General A Kou and the gathered Ou Sen Army along with the Kan Ki Army of 20,000 soldiers get ready to head to Retsubi just as Ko Chou predicted. In the midst of skirmishing with Tou's forces, news of their deployment reaches Ko Chou and Shun Sui Ju via a messenger. Before they can question on why the northern armies aren't moving, they received the news of Ri Boku's arrest under the King Tou Jou's orders. The tearful massager also relays to the Zhao generals that the capital, Kantan has made no signs of making any movements to provide them with assistance nor any evidence that the northern armies are even being mobilized. He then tells everyone present that the king intends to have Ri Boku executed for his failure in preventing Gyou's fall. Shun Sui Ju, blinded by rage, nearly kills the massager as he curses the idiocy of their king. With a morbid expression, Ko Chou orders an immediate withdrawal from Retsubi to address the Great Heaven's arrest and rescue Ri Boku from his punishment.

Battle of Eikyuu Arc[]

The Ko Chou Army set out from Kantan to confront Kan Ki Army in open battle. Although possessing far superior numbers, the Ko Chou Army was utterly defeated by the Great General Kan Ki through guile and deception. Once the head of Ko Chou was paraded around by the Kan Ki soldiers, the Zhao officers began to surrender one after the other.

The remnants of the Ko Chou Army who were still willing to fight were pursued by the Hi Shin Unit, while Kan Ki and his soldiers round up the prisoners. In fact, the number of prisoners was so high, that the tacticians from the Kan Ki Army decided to thin their ranks by beheading a hundred thousand men, instead of dealing with the risk of them revolting all at once.

Zhao's Retaliation Arc[]

Siege of Atsuyo[]

During the Atsuyo, the two surviving cavalry units of the Ko Chou Army, led by Generals Ryuu Fu and Ko Haku Kou respectively, committed themselves to a suicide charge in order to take down General Den Ri Mi, but were stopped by Great General Ou Sen himself.

Once the remnants failed their primary objective, they changed their target to taking Kan Ki's head, who was tending to the rear guard, but they were once again stopped on their tracks, this time by the Ri Shin and the Hi Shin Unit. The Ryuu Fu Cavalry was completely annihilated in this endeavor, but Kou Haku Kou and his Cavalry managed to escape and reunite with Shun Sui Ju after the siege was over, to fight another day.
