The State of Han is located in the middle of the central plains and is lodged between the large States of Chu, Qin, and Wei. The capital city of the state is Shintei.

History[]

Han is one of the successor states of the State of Jin, after a brutal civil war that divided Jin in three states: Han, Zhao and Wei.

40 years ago, they participated in the Coalition led by Gaku Ki of Yan against the superstate of the time, Qi.

Story[]

The state of Han is considered the weakest of all the Warring States and is not perceived as a major or central threat, but it has long been guarded by other states due to its status as a strategical point/buffer, therefore no other state has let the entirety of the kingdom be conquered by another during the numerous wars of the last 500 years. They are also known for having an intelligence network that is almost unrivaled among the Seven Warring States.

Despite the fact that no state has managed to completely annihilate Han, the kingdom has been the victim of numerous invasions and attacks from Qin, Wei, and Chu multiple times in the story.

Culture[]

While Han can be considered the weakest of the Seven Warring States in China from a purely martial standpoint, Tou mentioned that they survived this long due to their rulers' wisdom enabling them to act with restraint and to take advantage of their role as a buffer state between Qin, Wei, and Chu to keep all three states restraint in terms of conquest; as any single power who attacks Han without good reasons risks being attacked by the other states.

Being right at the center of China and due to its tradition of using its wisdom to survive in such a martial era, Han is one of the most rich and prosperous Warring States. It has also been remarked at how Confucian philosophy is dominant in the culture of Han; with even Legalist geniuses like Han Pishi having little impact on the social governance of the kingdom.

Government[]

Han, like all other Warring States, is a monarchy, and its current monarch is King Ou An.
