Gaku'in was a Zhao commander of the Rigan army he was burned alive along with Ki Shou and the other adults in order to save his children and that of the others. He fought against the Anka city forces multiple times and even served during the battle of Tanko. He could of possible been Ki Shou's Deputy and or Right-hand man seeing as Ki Sui is shown yelling at him to tell his father to rethink his plan to free the citizens of Rigan but he says he also wishes to go along with the plan to save his children.
