| “ | No need to get so mad. It's not like I have something against him or anything. I never had any interest in Ren Pa's right arm since the very start. Because I'm going to be the man who attains the final seat of Zhao's Three Great Heavens. | ” |
—Fu Tei to Shin during their duel. | ||
Fu Tei is a General of the Zhao Military. He and his unit took part in the Battle of Sai as members of the Ri Boku Army. He is the leader of Fu Tei Army. Fu Tei's goal is to attain a seat amongst the Three Great Heavens of Zhao.
Appearance[]
Fu Tei's face.
Fu Tei is a man of average size and possibly well built. He wears a commander's armor of light purple coloring, helmet with a feather on top and a scarf that hides his face, exposing only his eyes.
Personality[]
Fu Tei is the opposite of Kaine’s serious demeanor, known for his easy-going nature and lighthearted attitude, even in the midst of battle. He often speaks of himself in the third person, using the honorific "sama" (lord, master), showing his belief in his own superiority. He is confident in his skills and has ambitions of becoming one of the "Three Great Heavens." A running gag with Fu Tei is his tendency to be easily distracted by attractive women, which often leads to him being reprimanded and beaten by Kaine, who is frequently the target of his flirtations.
Despite his playful nature, Fu Tei is not above showing respect to his adversaries. This is evident in his interactions with Rin Gyoku during the Battle of Hika. Recognizing the inevitable death of Kan Ki’s soldiers, Fu Tei offered Rin Gyoku a quick and painless death rather than being captured and tortured by Zhao forces. When Rin Gyoku chose to fight alongside Kan Ki, Fu Tei saluted him solemnly, acknowledging his bravery. Similarly, when Kan Ki made his suicidal charge towards Ri Boku’s position, Fu Tei dismissed the Zhao army’s attempts to capture him, believing that death would be a mercy.
Story[]
Coalition Invasion Arc[]
During the second day of the Battle of Sai, his and Kaine's units were sent into action. When he first arrived, he noticed Ryuu Sen and quickly defeated him. He then ordered his troops to leave that spot to Kaine's unit, which was just climbing, and head left. Because that was the direction Ri Shin was. Later, he is seen battling Den Yuu. Like Ryuu Sen, Den Yuu proves not to be a match for Fu Tei. Fu Tei then comments on how Sai has lost two of their precious officers. Den Yuu then rose up, still not defeated. But before Fu Tei could finish him, Shin came to his rescue. Fu Tei quickly realized it was Shin.
Ri Shin tricks Fu Tei.
Fu Tei fought against Shin and the fight seemed rather one-sided since Fu Tei was too fast for Shin to hit, However, Shin realized that Fu Tei was just fast and not that strong. After realizing that, Fu Tei reminded him of Kyou Kai in her speed and he revisited a lesson Kyou Kai once gave him about speed and how to beat it. Shin then used bait to trick Fu Tei and knocked him out. Their fight ended at that point because Fu Tei was unconscious and Ka Ryo Ten was being kidnapped by Kaine. Seeing this, Shin rushed over and rescued her, knocking Kaine over the wall in the process. Fu Tei then regained consciousness and saw Kaine getting knocked off the wall. Referring to Kaine as his future wife, Fu Tei started an angry charge at Shin for throwing Kaine off the wall. Right in the middle of the charge Ryuu Sen appeared and rammed into him with his shoulder, sending him flying off the wall right after Kaine. He survived the fall due to him falling on top of some of the men standing below the wall.
On the 7th day of the siege, the Yo Tan Wa Army arrived to reinforce king Ei Sei. Fu Tei was at first startled by this unexpected development, but quickly took a grip of the situation. He led his army to a head-on attack on the new enemies and managed to slay his way to where the main army was. However, upon reaching there, he and his unit struggled against Rankai and other the top tier mountain warriors.

The plan however doesn't work, because of Ou Hon and Mou Ten saving their commander. Fu Tei briefly duels Ou Hon but is unable to overcome him.
Zhao Crisis Arc[]
Fu Tei joins Ri Boku after his escape from Kantan and follows him in his exile in Seika, the city of Shi Ba Shou.
Zhao's Retaliation Arc[]
Having attain the rank of General, Fu Tei is now participating in the battle of Gian to destroy Kan Ki and the Qin Armies. During Kan Ki's ambush he saves Ri Boku by killing a Qin soldier with a sword throw. Later he duels Rin Gyoku for a brief moment but eventually decides to spare him and let him die with his commander.
Hango Campaign Arc[]
During the Battle of Hango Fu Tei was placed in the reserve army alongside Kaine and Ri Boku. He accompanied other Zhao commanders in ambush on A Kou and was able to take out his helmet. However, once the Hi Shin Unit started closing on them, he retreated. When Shin was chasing Ri Boku, he exchanged few blows with him and was surprised with Qin's general mastery of glaive. Fu Tei then accompanied Ri Boku during their escape through the tunnel. After Seika Army overpowered Ou Sen Fu Tei Army was sent to finish off the Ou Sen Army.
Three Pillars Arc[]
Fu Tei is present during strategical meeting inside Bu'An Castle alongside other Ri Boku's vassals. When the message from Ri Boku arrives with orders to prepare to aid Han, Fu Tei is not happy about getting involved in fighting for another state. However, Shun Sui Ju answers that in the end this is for Zhao and ending Qin's ambitions will benefit them too.

| “ | Shit. This guy is way too hard to deal with. He's not that strong...But he's friggin' fast that I can't catch him at all. I can't hit him no matter how many times I swing my sword...This guy's speed...Might actually give even Kyou Kai a run for her money. | ” |

As a vassal of Ri Boku, Fu Tei is a talented commander. Ri Boku trusts his capabilities and gives him special assignments as shown in the Battle at Shukai Plains.
Physical Abilities[]
Master Swordsman: Fu Tei is a highly skilled swordsman, particularly proficient with dual blades, demonstrating remarkable finesse in combat. He can swiftly dispatch enemy soldiers with precise strikes to vital areas. Even formidable 100-Man Commanders, such as Den Yuu and Ryuu Sen from the Hi Shin Unit, were no match for him, and he deftly defeated them with ease.
His technique allows him to bait opponents into attacking first, which he can then expertly counter. During his duel with Shin, Fu Tei showcased his incredible reflexes, effortlessly dodging the 1000-man Commander’s sword swings before they even reached him, though this precise timing made it easier for Shin to anticipate his movements. Fu Tei also demonstrated his ability to eliminate enemies from a distance, as seen when he killed a Kan Ki soldier with a well-aimed throw of his sword.[1]
Immense Speed: Fu Tei's speed is one of his greatest assets. Shin observed that while Fu Tei may not possess overwhelming strength, his speed maybe on par with the likes of Kyou Kai, making him a formidable opponent in terms of agility and reflexes.
Leadership[]
Fu Tei is a capable leader to marshal troops of over 10,000 soldiers and possesses above-average leadership skills. During his pincer attack on Ou Sen's headquarter during the Battle at Shukai Plains, he was able to effectively command his cavalry in order to execute the attack in the most efficient way.
Tactical Abilities[]
Fu Tei possesses a considerable amount of military knowledge. During the Battle of Sai, he was able to quickly respond to the completely unexpected situation with the Mountain Tribe's attack as well as get close to Yo Tan Wa's unit but failed in preventing her charge.
Military Formations: Fu Tei is capable to perform military formations as he led a Wedge Formation to execute the pincer attack on Ou Sen's HQ.
Weaknesses[]
Despite his remarkable combat skills, Fu Tei's reliance on Ri Boku limits his ability to independently lead on the battlefield. While an effective military commander, he lacks the explosive martial power and tactical insight necessary to direct large-scale battles on his own.

Trivia[]
- Fu Tei's character appears to be based on the real historical general, Fu Di. However, there seems to be some differences as his historical counterpart was already a general in 240 B.C.
- In the years following the Coalition Arc, it was unknown if Fu Tei had been promoted past the rank of 3000-commander, but it can be assumed since Ri Boku had given him larger tasks such as looking over the transfer of over 10,000 troops and the taking of Ou Sen's head, he mostly attained the rank of at least a 4000-Man Commander or 5000-Man Commander.
- Fu Tei wears a scarf to protect his nose and mouth from allergens as he is quite prone to coughing.
