A Pressing Issue is the 641st chapter of the Kingdom manga.
Summary[]
The Hi Shin Unit returns from Gyou to the Royal Capital of Qin, Kanyou. When they arrive, there is a parade awaiting their return. The city is full of celebration with drums banging and chants of praise about their victories. All the Hi Shin members are showered in praise, hugs and flowers. An old guy asked Ten to marry him as he was smitten with her. Even the new recruits are recognized.
All the soldiers that returned to Kanyou would receive payment equal to their contributions. With most of the men from the Hi Shin Unit going back to their homes, villages, families and loved ones Kan To asks Shin where he is going and where he lives. Shin tells him that he lives in a small place called Fuuri. The Ton brothers speculate that their commander must live in a gigantic mansion since he is a 5000-Man Commander. Shin replies that he doesn't actually know since he rarely goes there and that he hired Den Yuu's carpenter friends to build him a mansion. Den Yuu says that they have been working on it nonstop since the Hi Shin Unit left for Gyou a year prior, and that they're nearly done putting the finishing touches on it while noting it was one of their finest works. After hearing this, Bi Hei and the others want to see Shin's home and asks everyone around who also wants to see it. Shin being somewhat surprised that they all wanted to see his house invites them all to come see his new house.
Shin brings them straight to his old shack that he was awarded after helping Sei during Sei Kyou's Rebellion years ago. When the members of the Hi Shin Unit see the shack, they were flabbergasted at how small and run down Shin's house is. Some of the members noted it was smaller than their own homes and that they felt embarrassed for Shin and that it was something that they shouldn't have seen. Bi Hei thinks that Den Yuu was running a scam seeing as how Shin spent a fortune on the upgrades. Shin thinks the shacks' wood looks new and stylish. Den Yuu tells Shin to not be dumb and turns his head towards the massively newly built mansion to the side of his old shack.
What they see is a three-story main house surrounded by five two story houses that are encircled by a ten-foot-tall wall around the property. It is decided right then and there that they are going to hold a celebratory feast at Shin's new residence. Unlike all the previous celebrations, the men of the Hi shin Unit were encouraged to bring their families along to partake in the festivities. As night approaches all the families gather around in Shin's new courtyard. Ryuu Sen's five children are seen running around. Shin welcomes Yuu Ri, who was once Bi Tou's fiancée and Bi Hei's girlfriend Tou Bi. Some of the men remark to Den Yuu that his carpenter friends did great work and ask him if they could work on their homes. Bi Hei introduces his girlfriend Tou Bi to everyone, and they are surprised that he told the truth for once, since they thought he was lying and making her up.
Ten and Ryuu Yuu are seen cooking up a storm in Shin's new kitchen and seem to be having a blast with Ryuu Yuu commenting how easy the kitchen setup was to use. With her injures, Kyou Kai sets her bed up in the middle of the celebration and sticks out her arm from under her blanket from time to time to munch down some food. As the night goes on Shin is seen drinking with the men of the Hi Shin Unit with the children of the troops passed out around him. Den Ei mentions that the palace wants to see Shin in three days' time. En and Bi Hei mention that it's probably time for Shin to take his next step towards becoming a great general of the heavens in being promoted to a general.
But a drunken Ga Ro, being the pessimist that he is, says it's probably bad news from the palace since a promotion would be held at the awards ceremony, but since Generals Ou Sen, Yo Tan Wa and Kan Ki haven't come back it won't be for a while. With the booze hitting him he says that he kept his mouth shut until now, but he hasn't heard of a former servant actually become a general. He says that to reach general you need a certain amount of social standing, and that every once in a while, you hear about a 5000-man commander eternally stuck at the position even though they have the skills to be generals due to low standing. As Bi Hei and others tell Ga Ro to shut up, a worried Ten asks Shin if she can come with him when he goes to the palace.
Three days later, Shin and Ten meet with Sei and Shou Bun Kun. Sei tells Shin that there is a slight problem with him becoming a general. Both he and Ten start to freak out and panic thinking that what Ga Ro said might true, but Sei tells Shin that the problem is with his name, or the lack thereof, and that to become a general you first need a family name. So, to fix this issue Sei is planning on bestowing upon Shin a family name. Sei tells Shin to think of a name on the spot, but Shin tells him that he's not good at reading and doesn't know the meaning behind names. So, Sei tells him to not think about it and just choose whatever comes to mind. Laughably Shin picks Ei, Sei's family name, and Shou Bun Kun quickly shoots it down and that there are names which he can't pick. So, with this in mind Shin asks Sei to pick his name for him instead. Unfortunately, Sei can't think of anything for Shin either. He does however remember that he had the same problem with Hyou.
Flash backing, Hyou and Sei were in the middle of trying to come up with his Hyou's new family name. Hyou mentions that it would have been so much easier to pick a name if only Shin and him had decided on a name but in that moment Hyou sees Sei eating a fruit and asks Sei what the name of the fruit he always sees him eating is. Sei tells him that the fruit is called a plum and Hyou says that he wants his family name to be Ri (李). Shin hearing this thinks back to his days of training with Hyou and remembers Hyou saying that they will both carve their names into history as Great Generals. Smiling at this memory and the fact the Hyou choose his own family name. Shin says if that is the case then the family name, will be Ri (李), and Sei says it will be done. This marks the birth of General Ri Shin, whose feats and accomplishments will one day become legend and still be remembered with his deeds being studied by countless future generations to come after his passing.
