Inheritor of the Podao is the 509th chapter of the Kingdom manga.
Summary[]
A slaughter is ongoing at Retsubi's main gates as the soldiers of the Hi Shin Unit watch in sheer amazement as Shin destroys every Zhao soldier which comes his way. At first, the Hi Shin Unit was struck with awe and considers Shin untouchable for the power of the General Ou Ki's Glaive. However, as Kyou Kai points out Shin is easily getting injured due to taking too long to swing the large podao. Frustrated, an embarrassed Shin blames the podao's weight, much to his men's dismay. After slaughtering some of the soldiers, the Yo Tan Wa Army come through the gates and obliterated the weakened Zhao soldiers, being led by Shunmen. After clearing the gates, Shin and the Mountain men penetrate the interior of the city of Retsubi.
Just as Ou Hon, Kan Jou, and the Gyoku Hou arrive they are greeted by the sight of conquered Retsubi, Kan Jou sees Shin on the roof of the guard tower, swinging the Qin flag, thus Retsubi has fallen in the hands of Qin with Ou Hon seeing him to while calling him an idiot. The Gyoku Hou Unit members are shocked to see that Retsubi fell in less than one day. But there's more to be debated about the easy and swift conquest of Retsubi. The Qin army learns that the Retsubi local population fled with supplies for Gyou just as one of Kan Ki's soldiers point out, the main target of Qin's Invasion against Zhao. Ka Ryo Ten says that Retsubi is just an 'airway' to allow an attack on Gyou and taking Gyou is one of the main priorities for the Qin Army. Furthermore, Ou Sen commanded his troops to measure the walls, the gate composition and all other elementary defense structures in order to keep the defense in Retsubi stronger and resistant to attacks.
Meanwhile, on Sekiba Hills, Kou Son Ryuu and his army are located around half a day's march from Retsubi, while one of his messengers arrive with the grave news that Retsubi has fallen. The Zhao general then decides to halt and pull back the troops to the frontlines, abandoning the reclamation of Retsubi, just for stating a stratagem composed by Ri Boku, in which he also claims that the Qin Army has already fell in the Zhao Army's trap. Back over in Retsubi, the only general who fully understood the trap composed in Ri Boku's stratagem is Ou Sen, after carefully analyzing the composition of Retsubi's defenses, pictures Shou Hei Kun's strategic plan crafted about the attack on Gyou crumbling.

High Points[]
- Shin uses General Ou Ki's podao for the first time in combat but has yet to fully master it as he takes too long for him to swing, thus being more easily injured by the Zhao soldiers as stated by Kyou Kai and he claims that the weight is simply too heavy for him.
- Retsubi is conquered in one day by the combined forces of the Yo Tan Wa Army and Hi Shin Unit, but the problem is that the city's people ran off with supplies towards Gyou, being also the preferable target for the Qin Army to conquer, thus Retsubi being just an 'airway' to allow an attack on Gyou.
- The gate of Retsubi falls on the first day of combat.
- Ou Sen discovers a significantly great problem within the city after surveying it.
