The Battle at Roumou Cliff was a major battle fought between the Zhao Army from the city of Roumou led by Zhao Generals Kan Saro and Ji Aga against the Qin Northeastern Army in 233 B.C.

Location[]

The battle takes place south of Roumou and east of Taigen near the border between Zhao and Qin. The battlefield was below steep cliffs in the north.

Background[]

Aftermath of the Siege of Atsuyo[]

Having captured Atsuyo, the Ou Sen Army led Qin Army has taken heavy losses with three times the casualties and injured. Due this the Qin decide to leave behind a great number of able-bodied soldiers to guard Atsuyo.

Seeing these developments, two options are given - Have all forces remain in Atsuyo until the Ou Sen Army recovers and send a messenger to tell the forces at Taigen to remain there. The second option - the Ou Sen Army alone will remain while the rest of the Qin forces head north and rendezvous with the northeastern forces, and then march towards Gian as prior the original plan. Seeing the two choices the biggest factor between them is time. If the Ou Sen Army decides to recover, the northeastern armies will stay stationed at Taigen but in the time, it takes to recover. The Zhao may catch on to their presence and start to develop counter measures for them.

Seeing all this, Kan Ki decides to go the second option and continue forward as he begins the invasion of northern Zhao with the Hi Shin Unit, Gaku Ka Army, and Heki Army as they go to rendezvous with the northeastern forces from Taigen.

Story[]

The Ambush[]

After half a year of preparing and training, the Roumou Army led by Kan Saro and Ji Aga overlooks the northeastern Qin armies march towards Atsuyo. Ji Aga begins the attack as he and his forces attack the Qin's rearguard, the Seika General devasted the caught off soldiers while also killing the commander Shu Kaku. Kan Saro heads out to attack the enemy HQ and kills the Commander-in-Chief Sou Ha Kou.

Qin army became totally disorganized, with a major part of the army fleeing back to Taigen and the 50,000 soldiers from the vanguard, led by general Fuu Han, deciding to continue on to the rendezvous point with Kan Ki's army.

Aftermath[]

As Ri Boku had foreseen, by leaving only part of Qin's northeastern army to join Kan Ki's forces, he didn't give up on pushing further north into Zhao, where the ambush on the Gishi plains awaited him.
