—Ba Fuu Ji | ||
Ba Fuu Ji is a General and leader of Ba Fuu Ji Army in the Zhao Military. He serves as a commander in the Ri Boku Army. He has been under Ri Boku’s command since the Great Heaven's years in Ganmon, where he fought against the Northern Horsemen Tribes in the far north of Zhao. Ba Fuu Ji is the son of Zhao General Ba Nan Ji, the infamous "Demon of Ganmon," known for his fierce reputation in battle.
Ba Fuu Ji first appeared at the end of the Battle of Eikyuu Arc, following the death of Great General Ko Chou and Ri Boku's reinstatement as Commander-in-Chief of the Zhao Military. He was formally introduced in the Zhao's Retaliation Arc.
Appearance[]
Ba Fuu Ji is a young-looking man with a relatively short ponytail, a contrast to his father's long braids. He has a lock of hair that falls across his forehead and inherits his father's distinctive features, including long, stretched eyelashes and short but thick eyebrows. He wears decorated military armor similar to his father's and drapes a fur coat around his neck, completing his commanding appearance.
Personality[]
Ba Fuu Ji appears to be an upright man, unlike his father, he lacks a hot-blooded approach but carries a passionate disposition as he defended his lord, Ri Boku from the Kan Ki Army's fierce attacks without hesitation showing a powerful determination.
History[]
Ba Fuu Ji was born and raised in the north of Zhao. It's implied at some point in his life he was fighting against Xiongnu alongside his father and eventually rose to the rank of 5000-Man Commander.
Story[]
Battle of Eikyuu Arc[]
Ba Fuu Ji is seen accompanying Ri Boku, his father, and the rest of the Ri Boku Army as they leave Seika to retake his post as commander-in-chief of Zhao's army.
Zhao's Retaliation Arc[]
Ba Fuu Ji is seen alongside other Zhao officers in the war council just before the Battle of Gian. After wishing his father, Ba Nan Ji, good luck, he heads for the battlefield. Following some discussions with other Zhao generals and commanders, Ba Fuu Ji proceeds to the front lines. He later reappears during the ambush set by the Kan Ki Army to kill Ri Boku. Along with Fu Tei, Ba Fuu Ji saves his lord’s life, killing several of Kan Ki’s soldiers in the process.
After Fu Tei and Rin Gyoku clash, Ba Fuu Ji strikes Rin Gyoku with a powerful blow from his sword, causing the Qin general to drop one of his blades before he could land a killing blow. Ba Fuu Ji is then shot by Koku'Ou, blocking the arrow with his arm, though it pierces through. As Rin Gyoku attacks, Ba Fuu Ji blocks the strike and is pushed away, but he quickly remounts his horse with his injured arm, surprising Koku'Ou. She then orders Rin Gyoku to ensure Ba Fuu Ji doesn’t survive.
Ba Fuu Ji calmly removes the arrows from his arm and reassures the troops, telling them that the Ganmon soldiers will fight to the death to protect Ri Boku and that reinforcements are on the way. He then declares that he will fight Zenou. After Ri Boku is injured by Kanki, Ba Fuu Ji orders his soldiers to save Ri Boku before engaging Zenou. He injures Zenou but is violently struck in return, sending him to the ground and injuring his left arm. Unfazed, Ba Fuu Ji remarks that the wound will make his job of protecting Ri Boku easier, and he rallies the soldiers and Ganmon forces around his lord.
Ba Fuu Ji then proceeds to cut down bandit soldiers one after another, delivering a speech about the strength that comes from the heart while continuing to strike down Kan Ki’s forces until reinforcements from Jyou Ka Ryuu and Ko Haku Kou arrive. Once Ri Boku is saved, Ba Fuu Ji mounts his horse and stands beside his lord. During Ri Boku’s final conversation with Kan Ki, Ba Fuu Ji senses something is wrong and urges Ri Boku to end the prolonged discussion.
After Kan Ki’s death, Ba Fuu Ji notices Na Ki advancing toward Ri Boku and signals his soldiers to kill the already wounded Na Ki. When Ko Haku’s soldiers express anger at not being allowed to desecrate Kan Ki’s body, Ba Fuu Ji steps forward, silently warning them not to act out of line.
Nature of Humanity Arc[]
Ba Fuu Ji, along with the rest of the Zhao army, victoriously entered the city of Bu'an after they had completely routed Kan Ki Army. While marching through the city, he teased Kotsu Min Haku, saying that he must be feeling something, especially after receiving such thunderous applause but having done nothing in the battle.
Hango Campaign Arc[]
Ba Fuu Ji participates in the Battle of Hango and is placed on Zhao's right wing against Yo Tan Wa Army.
Three Pillars Arc[]
Ba Fuu Ji is present during the strategical meeting inside Bu'an Castle when they receive message from Ri Boku to continue to train their troops and be ready in case they need to send their forces to aid Han.[1]
TBA Arc[]
In 229 B.C, he is summoned to the capital city Kantan, in anticipation of Qin's invasion and all-out war with Zhao.[2]
During the invasion, he and his army are positioned alongside the Kotsu Min Haku Army at the fuugen plains to take on the invading Gaku Ka Army.[3]
Abilities[]
Ba Fuu Ji proves to be a capable military commander.
Physical Abilities[]
Master Swordsman: Ba Fuu Ji is very capable with a sword. He was able to easily overcome Rin Gyoku, an expert warrior himself, with a single strike and then landed a cut on Zenou's arm. He was also able to kill many Kan Ki soldiers with ease, even with a broken arm.
Immense Endurance: Ba Fuu Ji demonstrates incredible resilience and endurance throughout the battle. He is repeatedly wounded but refuses to fall. First, he is shot in the arm by Koku'Ou's arrow, yet he ignores the injury and continues fighting. He is then struck by Rin Gyoku and later hit directly by Zenou's mace in a powerful blow, yet he remains standing with a smile, undeterred by the pain.
Ba Fuu Ji further proves his resilience as he shields Ri Boku by confronting Kan Ki's soldiers, enduring multiple stabbings but continuing to fight with unwavering determination and a smile, showing the full extent of his incredible endurance and strength.
Leadership[]
Ba Fuu Ji is an impressive leader capable of empowering his soldiers to even give up their lives. This was first shown during the Kan Ki Army's ambush, where he delivered speeches to the soldiers of Ganmon and raised their spirits tremendously, exacerbating their will to protect the savior of Ganmou, Ri Boku.
